How are Glass Claims handled? Windshield Chips?
When you call to report glass breakage, you will be offered a voice prompt to speak directly with our approved vendor. They will generate a claim for you and offer to schedule the necessary work. In many areas, the glass shops offer mobile service so you have the option of taking the car into the glass shop or having the glass shop come to your home or place of business to do the work. When the glass work is done, you pay your deductible to the shop and 21st Century Insurance pays the amount in excess of the deductible.
Not all glass damage necessitates the complete replacement of the glass. Some chips and cracks are repairable. The criteria for repair are:
The damage is not in the driver's field of vision.
If the damage is a crack, it is not more than 6 inches long.
If the damage is a chip, its diameter is not larger than a quarter.
If you're a 21st Century auto insurance customer with comprehensive coverage, we'll waive any glass deductible if your windshield is repairable, making it free to you. Windshield repair has many benefits, including:
It restores the windshield's structural integrity.
It's environmentally friendly.
To schedule vehicle-glass repair, call 21st Century Insurance's HelpPoint Glass Service (available 24 hours a day) 1-888-244-6163. We'll have you on the road again in no time, and your glass shop preference will always be honored.
* If you're dissatisfied with the repair, we'll replace the windshield (a glass deductible may apply with the replacement). Our replacement warranty applies as long as you own or lease the vehicle.
