What is the process if my spouse and I are separated? Divorced?
Single Vehicle Policy
If the vehicle listed is registered solely to the Named Insured, a written request to delete the ex-spouse will be honored. For verification, a copy of the current vehicles registration maybe required.
Multiple Vehicle Policy
An ex-spouse can request to be removed from the policy (with or without a vehicle). A written request from the ex-spouse will be honored or the ex-spouse may call and speak to our customer care specialist directly. For verification, a copy of the current vehicles registration maybe required.
New Policy Process
When a request is received to split a policy from a Named Insured, a new policy will be created for that Named Insured. A letter will be mailed to the second Named Insured advising them to call us and speak to our customer care specialist to obtain a new policy as well. The original policy will be cancelled once both new policies are created or upon the renewal.
Only Named Insured's, not operators on the policy, are given their own policy. Any operator that is not a Named Insured on the policy, that request to be split, will be referred to our sales department. If a Named Insured requests to delete a driver, then a written request should be sent.
* NOTE REFUNDS (cancellation of old policy)
The original policy refund will be sent to all Named Insured's listed on the policy. No exceptions will be made in this situation.
*** NOTE: DIVORCE DECREE
If a divorce decree stipulates the policy must remain "as is" until a specified date, then we will need a copy of the decree for our records and your policy will be commented accordingly.
